This message is for Tom Winham. Tom, if you’re monitoring this, do you remember the name of the red-headed specialist who worked in the same “office” as we did in 1968 or 1969? He was from Seaside, Oregon. For some reason, the name Charlie springs to mind, but I’m not sure. My family is holding their reunion in Seaside in June and I’d like to contact him if he still lives there. BTW - how are you doing and where do you live? I’m in Colorado Springs. I hope you remember this gentleman and also I hope he still lives in Seaside. And, I hope all is well with you.

I’ve been trying to find Denny Davis for some time. He was from Masselon, OH and joined the Air Force in 1968. We were in Monterrey and San Angelo together. Then he showed up in Rimbach about summer of ‘71. We rented an apartment for nearly a year and then, I was informed at 9am I was leaving Rimbach that afternoon- losing track of a lot of people. This was in April of ‘72. I saw a picture posted within this site a few years ago that appeared as if Denny was possibly in Rimbach a second tour- maybe, staying in for a career. Can anyone provide any information? Thanks in advance-

Bobby Joe Lewis

I am searching for an old Army buddy, Bobby Joe Lewis. We served together in the Army Security Agency in Germany 1965-1967. Bobby Joe was on the Hohenbogen in the summers from 1965-1967.
Bobby Joe was from Wichita Falls, I think he was born and raised there. He went to high school and college in Wichita Falls. I can remember him talking about a younger brother that must have been a pretty good football player, might have played in Oklahoma in 1965.
I last saw Bobby Joe in 1967 after his discharge from the Army. He shipped some of my household goods from Germany. I drove up from Ft. Worth, where I was living at the time, to pick up my stuff. That was the last contact I had with him. As best I can remember, he lived with his parents in a house located on the southeast side of town. I remember the house being a white wooden frame house and in the front yard there were very many trees providing lots of shade. From the back yard I could see the downtown area.
Bobby Joe would have been born around 1944. As well as I can remember he was about 5’ 10”, brown hair, dark complexion with freckles.

If anyone could help me locate him I would be very grateful. I have been searching for him for several years now, so any help in any form would be welcomed.
Best regards,
Dave Vaughan

I got an e-mail from a friend from Illinois who was detouring through San Angelo en route to Roswell, NM, to visit his daughter. He wanted to get together for dinner at Zentner’s Daughter Steakhouse. This guy used to be a Russian 203/instructor with me at the intel school at Goodfellow.

When I arrived there this evening, another retired RU instructor named Butch Ubelhart was also there with his wife. I knew Butch briefly because he had retired from the AF about the time I arrived at Goodfellow in ‘89 and he attended many of the office parties.

Butch and I got to talking about mutual acquaintances we’d lost track of over the years. When I mentioned John Wagner, he told me about John’s Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) Journey blog.

Those of you who remember John will immediately recognize him in the photo on the site.

I e-mailed him and told him about our site. Perhaps he’ll drop by.
