Both have passed away recently. Both excellent character actors…who will be #3?

I was an extra in a made-for-TV movie shot in Munich in 1986.  It was Babes in Toyland <http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090683> starring Richard Mulligan, Pat Morita, Eileen Brennan, a very young Drew Barrymore and a relatively unknown Keanu Reeves.  The movie was a real stinker, which may explain why it isn’t show every Christmas.

A friend from work and I spent the entire night at the Bavarian Film Studios waiting for our 5 seconds of on-screen fame.  While we waited, we got to see a brief scene with Eileen Brennan making a phone call in a phone booth at a gas station.  She was “on set” for all of 3 minutes while they took two takes of the scene, then she was whisked away back to her hotel.

Bavarian Film Studios is where The NeverEnding Story and Das Boot were shot and there were still sets from both of those movies on the lot.  Since we had time to kill, we wandered around the lot checking out the submarine mockups for Das Boot.

I missed a chance to be a security guard in Silence Like Glass <http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098721> due to a TDY.  I had been through wardrobe and was ready for the shoot, but never made it.
