Sam’s up to $3.06, but the others have remained at $3.09.

Read this morning that heating oil demand had caused crude prices to spike above $100 a barrel. This afternoon I saw where my benchmark place was up a dime to $3.16, and Walmart was up to $3.15. Kroger was still $3.06, but I expect that to change.

The Exxon across from Walmart has been closed for nearly two months while the old building and pumps were torn down and a wholly new operation built. It’s back open now under the name of its parent corporation, CEFCO. (Looks like they have CSS problems on their front page since the news release about the Paris store runs into the footer.)

Not sure what gas they’re using now, but they opened with regular at $2.99, the first time in a long while gas has been under $3 anywhere in Paris. May be just an opening special, but we’ll see.

LOL! Normally, that would be true, Kaipo! But I’m due for my ~monthly fill-up, so I’ll be heading down that way today to check out the new digs. I was a regular customer at the old Exxon due to its convenience, so we’ve been waiting for this thing to reopen. I’ll try to report back on it.

Gas up to $3.12 at Sam’s here.  Most of the others at $3.15.

The new CEFCO store/station is really nice. Now has 16 pumps is a spacious area instead of the crowded eight before. Inside is really nice, as well. Filled up at $2.99. Topped off at $30. grin

Forgot to look across the street to see if Walmart would match ‘em.

Yeah, it’s like those. They’re all about the same, really. The corner stores and corner gas stations have morphed into these.

My benchmark place, as well as Kroger, has matched the new CEFCO’s $2.99 price as of this morning. A Shell and a Mobil I saw were still at $3.15. Not sure if this is a trend down (I don’t think so), or just a mini-gas-war.

I agree. I haven’t seen a trend down yet.

Every place was back up here today, too. All places I saw were $3.16-$3.19, including the new CEFCO. Must be some oil spike ... or a trader on Wall Street had a spat with his wife.
