Thomas Baynard Ellis IV      
COLUMBIA - Thomas “Flapper” Baynard Ellis, IV was born December 25, 1946, in Greenwood, SC. He passed away Friday, November 14, 2008. Funeral service will be held Monday, November 17, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend John O. Bumgardner, Jr. officiating and interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening (tonight) at the funeral home. Pallbearers and lifelong friends are Mike Etheridge, Grainger Hines, Jimmy Holloway, Sonny Huntley, David Johnson, Yates Johnson, Larry Powell, Matt Self, Jimmy Snead and Bill Wilburn.

Beloved husband of Kathy Long Ellis, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Ellis, III. He is also survived by his sons, Tommy Ellis (Sim) and Matthew Ellis (Courtenay); a sister, Mary Lebby Cox( Mark); and a brother, Carter Ellis (Barbara). Thomas was affectionately known as “Poppy” to his beloved grandchildren, Kate, Drennan, and Garrett; and nieces and nephews.

Thomas graduated from Camden Military Academy and Palmer College. He served in the U.S. Army Security Agency. Thomas was employed by C.W. Haynes, First Citizens, RBMG, and retired from NetBank.

Thomas was a loving, devoted, and honorable husband and father. He always had a long story to tell, a smile for everyone and an unforgettable laugh. He was loyal and true to all who were privileged to call him a friend. He had a compelling love for music and computers.
