Things are going as planned on Hohenbogen
The investments on Hohenbogen are proceeding as planned, according to Michael Schreiner, the proprietor of the former military installations, on Friday, to an inquiry from the Kötzting Review newspaper. Great efforts are being expended to equip the future museum. Above all the Traditions Association of the former Hohenbogen Barracks, under the leadership of Franz Treml, is providing ideas, great knowledge of the subject and work efforts.
Alongside the Traditions Association former Czech radio intercept operators have offered their cooperation for the equipping of the museum, and also espionage expert Wilhelm Dietl has offered his help according to Michael Schreiner.
In recent weeks three trucks have arrived from Trier which brought to Hohenbogen former electronic surveillance systems. “Those are only five percent of the instruments that will hope to restore here”, said Schreiner. The members of the Traditions Association hare zealous about setting up their former work stations just as they were during the Cold War.
Michael Schreiner is also confident on a further point. Although he has not succeeded in acquiring an area in Madersdorf for parking, which could have been the starting point for shuttles to Eckstein, together with the Forest Administration a solution has supposedly been found which will make the operation of shuttle vehicles possible. In conjunction with this a gate will block traffic beyond the Forest Service Hut.
Michael Schreiner also stated that the planning for the future “Mountain Resort” on Hohenbogen is developing in a very positive manner. “The costs for the external elevators, for example, are much lower that originally estimated,” said the new entrepreneur. The plans of the Obermeier brothers for the Panoramacafe should be implemented step by step, so that there can be a partial opening by Pentecost 2010.
Michael Schreiner is very confident in regard to the realization of his project, because, in the meantime, numerous parties who are striving to share in the use of the signal corps towers, have made contact. “Slowly life is returning to Hohenbogen”, says the entrepreneur happily. In regard to the museum’s layout, negotiations are going on to which Schreiner attaches great importance.
