Reported by Phil Wetzel.

A bunch of us went to Oktoberfest in Sept/Oct of 1973. George Beattie had two rooms reserved in a hotel just off of the fest grounds. As I remember, there were 11 or 12 of us; Sampsons, Wetzels, Steve Allen, Stan Duncan, Joe Harakal and others I can’t remember. Since the rooms were in George’s name, and you had to pass the desk to get upstairs to the rooms, we decided as we filtered in for the evening to just tell them we were George Beattie. The first night they let us slide, but the second night, after the fourth of fifth different George Beattie checked into his room, the hotel demanded to know what was going on. We must have had an expert negotiator with us at the time, perhaps our illustrious future attorney, because they let us keep the same arrangements as long as each person paid his way and as long as they never heard the name of George Beattie again.
