Bill, if you’re bored lets at least do a TX gathering.  We can do that as soon as you like.

We’ve been talking about that off and on for quite a while! Your “Welcome To Texas” party is way behind sked. I’m game for most any time.

Hey, I’m all for a Monterey reunion.  Any time of the year is fine ... as I recall, November was great weather.  When and why did they stop teaching Czech? cool hmm

I don’t know when they stopped, but I’m sure that, what with the Czech Republic now being full-blown NATO members, it was simply no longer needed. Sometime after “the fall,” I’m sure it was.

Has there been any more thought on a reunion at DLI this year?

Funny you should mention that, John.  Bill Lamb and I exchanged e-mails yesterday asking pretty much the same question.  I guess we need to try to get a head count of those who want to reunite at DLI so we came make some arrangements with the DLI Alumni office as well as think about lodging, etc.  Have to check and see if we can send out an e-mail to all who have registered with the Web site.  A lot of Rimbachvets may be interested, but don’t subscribe to the List or check this site frequently.

Gene Jung and I spoke about it via Email yesterday that is why I mentioned it.  Obviously there is an undercurrent here.

I sent the e-mail to all 132 registered Rimbachvets members and only two bounced for bad addresses.  One bounced because the receiving mail server decided it was spam.

I’d love to visit DLI!  Czech 37 week 1965, Rimbach ‘67.

Count me as a most definite probably.  Would definitely like to - I’ll just have to wait a little longer to see how things play out at work.  raspberry

I’ve been suggesting a DLI/Monterey reunion since the 2004 Rimbach one which I couldn’t make.  (Fear of flying - post 9/11 hassles.  All of which I’ve gotten over with my 2009 Puerto Rico trip.)  I tried visiting DLI after 9/11 and was turned away by civilian guards carrying M16s.  I contemplated jumping a fence like we did during the old days but thought better considering my age and additional 40 pounds since my DLI days.  grin

I get the DLI quarterly newsletter from Ben DeSilva and thought having a reunion coinciding with the school’s anniversary celebrations would be a most excellent idea.  I’m glad Glenn also gets the newsletter and decided to contact the school to see what they could do for us.  For those of you who have not been back to Monterey since the 60s and 70s, you are in for a pleasant surprise!  Our sleepy little town has grown up ... although I kinda miss the old “Steinbeck cannery row” charm.  BTW, the seals are still there, noisy as ever!

Please count me in for the reunion, visit to DLI, and most likely the anniversary celebration at the Post Grad Naval School as well.

Thanks for the e-mail, Glenn.  Christa and I are interested in the DLI trip.  Please keep us informed.

Looks like the Monterey reunion proposal may need to be moved to Rimbachvets Reunion 2010 soon.

Good response to my e-mail although some are replying to me rather than posting here so everyone can see who’s interested.

Info on the DLI anniversary celebration can be found here:  http://www.dli-alumni.org/69th-savethedate.htm
