Filled up yesterday @ $2.63 at the Texaco. Didn’t have time to go to RaceTrac.

Heading to Independence, MO over the weekend. Will see what it is thru Oklahoma & Missouri.

I keep seeing stories about $3/gallon gas before long. Also keep seeing folks trying to justify it. So at a time of plentiful supply and “abysmal” demand, prices are jumping. They blame a strike in France, high demand in China, the season, pollen counts, aliens, cosmic rays ... and still prices rise. wink

Holding at my place, but was out and about this evening and noticed a big spread. A Mobil down the street (2 blocks or so) from my $2.57 place was at $2.69. Another Mobil a mile away was at $2.67. The Kroger station right next to that Mobil was $2.59.

There was a station in between those, but its sign was out, and I couldn’t tell the price.

It’s crazy out there. Which, I guess, is the point.

I probably made a mistake not filling up this evening.  Nearly all the stations I passed today were selling at $2.65 or $2.69.  The 7-11 that led the pack the other day with the highest price had gas at $2.59.  They march to the beat of a different drummer.  I’m not critically low, but that may be the cheapest gas will be for a while.

We left Richardson, TX @ 9am and since I had over 3/4 tank of gas we didn’t stop to top off. Prices in the neighborhood were running $2.57.

An hour up US Hwy 75 the gas prices were down to $2.55 but when we crossed the Red River into Oklahoma they jumped dramatically to $2.65. For the rest of the time we were in Oklahoma it was pretty much between $2.65 to $2.67 with 2 exceptions. Across the street from the first Choctaw Casino/Resort after entering Oklahoma, gas prices were $2.69. The second was in a small town call Chouteau, it was $2.49. We stopped at one of the two gas stations (a Shell) to get drinks and I asked the cashier about their prices. He had no idea. He said that yesterday they were at $2.55 and they were told to drop their prices this morning.

Passing into Missouri (near Joplin) the prices dropped immediately ($2.54). That is what it is here in Independence. Made it in about 9 1/2 hours (with a one hour lunch break & a 5 minute drink stop).

I’ll top of tomorrow and see what happens when we drive back on Tuesday.

Topped off in Independence this morning @ $2.53. All the way to Joplin the prices hovered between $2.53 to $2.55.

Oklahoma was the craziest. Gas prices ranged from $2.49 to $2.79 (and that was in the town of Pryor). Back in Texas and back home prices still $2.57.

That’s crazy, huh?

After being stuck at $2.59 at my place for ages, it dropped a whole penny today to $2.58. Probably be back to $2.59 tomorrow. Ha!

Gas in Midland today was $2.69 to $2.79, but that was just off of I-20.  Gassed up back in San Angelo at Sam’s Club at $2.57.  Looks like $2.59 is pretty much the norm today at the usual outlets.

The two stations closest to me sit on opposite corners of the intersection (Chevron & Texaco). One was $2.69 and the other was $2.79.

Prices seem seem to have leveled out the past few weeks, but they finally changed today at my usual place. Went up to $2.62 (from $2.58, where it had been seemingly forever).

Gas prices went to $2.69 here a few days ago.  One place I pass daily was still selling for $2.65, but that’ll probably change tomorrow.
