Depending on location, we got 4-7 inches of snow up here near Paris. Started about 9 a.m. today and is still going, though much lighter now.

A view down my street this afternoon as it still came down.

The hedges and mail box out front.

Not the huge blizzard the Northeast got (twice), but for North Texas it ain’t bad. I can remember bigger snows, but that was back in the ‘70s.

Nice.  The snow missed us by about 60 miles.  We got a little over 1/3” of rain.  The temp hovered around 36 all day long.  It could have fallen as snow had the temperature dropped a few degrees.

The overnight low is supposed to be 29, so the bridges and overpasses could be ugly in the morning.

I just went out (8:33pm) and measured two spots in my backyard and they both measured 5.5” of snow.

Yes.

It’s been hovering around 32F for the last couple of hours and is supposed to dip down to 27F by 4am.

Weatherman says our normal average for the year is 2” and officially it is close to 8” at the airfield. I’ll get the final measurement in the AM.

They say we should not discount global warming simply because of local weather conditions, BUT there seem to be an awful lot of local weather conditions.  I read an articl on an Australian Newspaper about Antartica’s snow pack which seem to me shifting on the south pole towards the Argentinian side.
Anyway enjoy the snow while you can.  I learned that snow is God’s way of saying take a break - you need it.

Went out about 11am and measured the snow in the backyard. It was 7” deep in two different locations.

Lost several tree limbs and will be out tomorrow with the chain saw.

Our low was 30-32, but there was no ice on the roads when I took Hermie to work about 5 a.m. It was all water and slush still, so that was a lucky break. Haven’t heard about Dallas’ morning commute yet, though.

It was still snowing, albeit lightly, when we left the house this morning. I’d say we got a total of 7-8 inches from the beginning to the end of it all.

Of course, the prettiest part of a big snow is the effect on trees. I shot a few after I got home this morning, about 6:30 a.m. (Hey, had to stop for coffee first!) The shot below if of a neighbor’s car, bush and some trees in the background at our house.

The thaw didn’t waste time. By mid-morning the trees were free of snow again for the most part, and all the streets and driveways were just wet. Lots of snow still on the grassy areas, though. Since it didn’t ice over, the thaw/melt will be a fast one.

Another not even close forecast for snow today.
Last night the forecasters said we were supposed to get a dusting to an 1” of snow with the heavier snows south of us.

From our house to downtown Dallas, we got nothing. Not even a dusting. Every once in a while you could see some very fine snow coming down in spurts. Never enough to dust anything.

At least they’re consistent.

Nothing was forecast for up this far, and in that instance they were right. We got nada, and that’s OK by me.

Glenn down in San Angelo got about 4 inches, he said. Austin and San Antonio got some. One of my favorite bars in Austin was closed tonight due to the snow (found out via Twitter), but I haven’t heard how much they got.

The Dallas stations were saying that you were supposed to be in the “Dusting to 1” of snow” group. A couple I heard included everything between the Red River and I-30.

I didn’t watch the Dallas stations. Got all my info from the NWS discussions. And they’re none too accurate a lot of times. Ha!

Sort of like - an infinite amount of monkeys with an infinite amount of typewriters could write Shakespeare.
