Bill,
In the wiki I was trying to make a change to where we had a separate category for geographic places and places we lived.  I wanted to make it so there would not have be too many subcategories (at least until we have a lot of articles).  In other words I was trying to bring some of the info more to the forefront without burying it under too many layers.  Apparently I cannot do that because - even though I changed the categorization tags the articles still stayed buried and now there are empty categories.  Sorry, but I seem to have screwed something up.

Hm. I’m not sure exactly what you’re trying to do. But I deleted the empty category you created. There now remain two subcats of “Places,” and they’re populated. Did that get you back to a starting point?

I think to change an entry’s category or subcategory, you have to edit it and change the code that was inserted at the top when the entry was made. (I think. I’ve never used this Wiki before.  smile )

Looking around some more, I think you might have tried to create a new category in the wrong way. I think you can just start a new entry and leave it blank, but for the following code:

[[Category:Category Name]]

And for a new subcategory:

[[Category:Category Name::Subcategory Name]]

Or create that category’s first entry at the same time, of course.

To change an existing entry, I think you just change that coding at the top to reflect a/the new category or subcategory.

I see where the “Mt. Eckstein” entry has a category code of “Geographic Places” at the top, yet it’s listed in that subcategory. You might have to restart by deleting all that category stuff and recreating them.

I hate the whole Wiki syntax. It’s ridiculously daunting for the average user who first looks at it, and thus really limits Wiki participation. It simply need not be that way.
